The Erzurum All-Star ice hockey team defeated the Georgian national ice hockey team 5-0 in a friendly game on Thursday.
The Erzurum side took a 2-0 lead in the first half and wrapped up the game in the second half, scoring three more points. The game was played as part of the first edition of the Erzurum Winter Sports Festival. Turkish Ice Hockey Federation President Fatih Çintımar told reporters after the game that the festival is the first and only winter sports festival held in Turkey. Erzurum is working to become the winter sports center of Turkey with its brand new facilities built for the occasion of the 2011 Winter Universiade.
